Northern Rescue Update: Additional Cast and Why It’s Being Filmed Here

Additional casting and more information are being revealed on the CBC-Netflix series being filmed in Parry Sound this Summer. The children of John West played by William Baldwin will be played by relative newcomers to television: Amalia Williamson and Taylor Thorne along with Spencer MacPherson.

Northern Rescue co-creator, writer and executive producer, David Cormican says they really looked at the chemistry between actors during the casting process as the show is very centred around family relationships.

The recently deceased mother and spouse will be played by Michelle Nolden. Cormican says the show will make use of the flashback sequence.

Cormican says they originally wanted to film the series in the Maritimes, but through encouragement from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, they had a change of heart.

Cormican says a lot of dollars are being spent in Parry Sound.

He says he hopes the show will begin to air before year’s end. The series revolves around recent widower John West who moves his kids from a busy city back to his small northern hometown to be closer to family and to lead a search and rescue service.
