If you’re trying to figure out how to keep your kids busy this summer, how about a free filmmaking course? The Near North District School Board is putting on a three-week REEL Writers course for Grade 6, 7 and 8 students to create films that will be showcased in a film festival. Acting Principal of Elementary for the Near North District School Board, Christopher Walkling says, this isn’t old-fashioned summer school.
Walkling says students will learn how to translate their ideas into scripts and storyboards, but also 21st-century skills.
No prior film knowledge or experience is required. The program will be offered at three schools in the board: Parry Sound High School, Almaguin Highlands Secondary School and Widdifield Secondary School, running from July 3rd to July 20th.
