Homelessness in The Parry Sound district

Are you or someone you know homeless or at risk of homelessness? Parry Sound District and Social Services want to hear from you for it’s “Let’s Make It Count” initiative, to identify and enumerate the homeless population in the region. From May 23rd to the 29th, volunteers will be stationed throughout the Parry Sound district to survey the homeless and those at risk. Supervisor of Homelessness Prevention Program, Sharon Davis says, homelessness in the Parry Sound district can be hard to spot.

Davis says, “Let’s Make It Count,” is part of Ontario’s poverty reduction strategy to end homelessness by 2025. She says an expert advisory committee published a report saying homelessness is complex and progressive action is needed.

An honorarium will be given to survey participants. To find out where and when homelessness enumeration surveys will take place visit the Parry Sound District and Social Services Administrative Board Website.
