Waubuno Beach has been recognized for the 5th straight year with a Blue Flag. Program Manager at Environmental Defence, Kelsey Scarfone says there are 33 criteria under 4 categories that need to be met in order for a beach to be marked with a flag. The four categories are excellent water quality, environmental education, environmental management, safety and services. Scarfone says winning a blue flag is no small feat.
Scarfone says winning the award is a testament to the town of Parry Sound’s management of Waubuno Beach Beach in a sustainable way. She says there are many reasons that Waubuno Beach Beach continues to receive a blue flag.
Scarfone says the blue flag will be up along with a blue flag information board through the summer.
