Parry Sound Health Centre going digital

The West Parry Sound Health Centre will be upgrading from a paper system to electronic health records by May 2019. It will cost $10 million to fully make this transition. Executive Director Lynne Atkinson says $3 million will be raised by the end of June. West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation Executive Director Lynne Atkinson says the health centre is one of eight in Ontario that is not using electronic health records. She says a digital system will be a major improvement for local patient care.

Atkinson says the new system is top notch and up-to-date. She adds electronic records will make Parry Sound more attractive to doctors.

The West Parry Sound Health Centre averages 65 thousand patients each year.
