Grand opening of new Parry Sound Generating Station

This Friday is the grand opening of the new Cascade Generation Station. Bracebridge Generation CEO Chris Litschko says the new station will feed 2,700 homes in Parry Sound with green water power. Litschko said the old station was constructed in 1919 and was in need of a change.

Litschko says the plant has been in operation for a few months and has had no problems. He says the new plant has improved the aesthetic of the neighbourhood.

Friday’s grand opening is by invitation only for those that participated in the creation of the plant. It will include a Wasauksing First Nation water ceremony. Litschko says possibly in the fall, the station will have a public open house, and it will have a viewing area for people to overlook the river.
