LHIN invests $3.5 million for primary care in Parry Sound

The West Parry Sound Health Centre will be on the receiving end of nearly $3.5 million from the Local Health Integration Network. According to LHIN, the funding is to increase access to care in rural areas and enhance current programs. The Director for Primary Care with LHIN, Jennifer McKinnon says the investment will enhance programs at nursing stations in rural areas.

McKinnon says the hope is that the funding will help recruit new primary care providers to the area.

LHIN says, 2.6 of the 3.5 million dollars will go to the West Parry Sound Health Centre’s Nurse-Practitioner Led Clinic. The other 900 thousand will support the creation of an indigenous interprofessional care team for Wasauksing First Nation.
