Recent West Nile findings in Simcoe-Muskoka shouldn’t have you concerned.

That’s according to Brendan Hatton from the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

He says that there are small amounts of West Nile-carrying mosquitos present in Parry Sound, so there is always a risk of contracting West Nile Virus. However, he says the risk is very low.

The last known human cases of West Nile Virus in North Bay Parry Sound district was in 2006. Hatton says the last positive mosquito pool was found in 2011.
