Arbitration settles collective agreement for CAS and its workers

An arbitrator has settled a new collective agreement between the workers of the Children’s Aid Society in Parry Sound and Nipissing and the agency.

The agreement gives a wage increase and protects the sick leave conditions that were the subject of a several month long lockout. Parry Sound and Nipissing CAS workers were locked out for most of winter 2017.

CUPE national representative Fran Belanger says congratulations are in order for members of the local 2049. She adds that CUPE will go back to the bargaining table next year.

The collective agreement settled by arbitration will expire March 31 next year.
