OPP directing efforts to curb inattentive driving

The OPP is asking drivers to keep their attention on the road.

According to police this has been a particularly bad year for fatal collisions due to distracted driving.

Police say 47 deaths on the road across Ontario to inattentive drivers this year. That’s eight more than this time last year.

Driver distraction has been the primary cause in 6,360 road collisions this year. That’s more collisions from speeding and impaired driving combined.

The OPP is asking drivers to keep safety in mind this long weekend. They’re asking drivers to keep their phones out of sight. If you need to use your phone, pull over at a safe location.
