OPP stress motorcycle safety after string of crashes on highway

Following a string of crashes involving motorcycles, the OPP is asking the public to keep everyone in mind on the road.

According to police, motorcycles are harder to spot on the road and lack the safety features of a car..

The OPP is offering safety tips to bikers in order to make every ride a safe one.

Police say motorcyclists shouldn’t assume other drivers can see them. Many drivers say they didn’t see the motorcycle they hit until it was too late. Police say avoiding driving in a car’s blind spot drastically reduces the chance for a potential collision

The OPP also recommends driving at a speed appropriate for road and weather conditions. Helmets and bright protective gear are also recommended by police.
