Personal Support Worker students at Canadore College have an opportunity to learn while making money.
The Friends are teaming up with Canadore College to help students pay for their education and give them real world experience in their field.
Successful applicants to the ‘earn while you learn’ program will get help paying tuition. The program will also pay for minimum wage for attending class, pay for travel time, and cover costs for CPR and First Aid courses.
Professional experience for students will also be given through work placements.
According to The Friends CEO Marleise Gause, this program is available because of the lack of PSW’s in central and Northern Ontario.
The Friends is an organization that provides housing, attendant services outreach, respite and other programs in the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound.
The Friends are taking applications for this program until August 7.
