Algae Bloom hits Lake Nosbonsing

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit is reporting a blue-green algae bloom in Lake Nosbonsing.

The lake is northeast of Powassan.

Blue-green algae occurs naturally in ponds and lakes. Blooms commonly happen in late summer and early fall. The algae is harmful to both animals and humans.

The Health Unit is asking the public to not swim or let the algae come into contact with your skin.

The health unit adds to not use water from the lake for drinking, cooking or bathing.
