Group asking for support for splash pad proposal

A few Parry Sound locals are looking for community support for a proposed project for Waubuno Beach.

Chris McDonald from Georgian Lanes along with a few others will be making a presentation to council next month asking for a splash pad to be installed at Waubuno Beach.

McDonald says a splash pad would be a safer place for smaller children to play, pointing to the one built in Penetanguishene as an example of what he would like for the town.

He says its too early to know the full extent of the costs, but a large splash pad could cost close to $250,000.

According to McDonald, Parry Sound has had money set aside in previous budgets for splash pad. However, the plans have never been seen through.

McDonald is asking for members of the community to join them at town council on August 8 to show their support for their proposal.

Parry Sound Town Council takes place at 52 Seguin Street and starts at 7:00 pm.
