Carling Township is looking to develop a plan for Lake Shebeshekong.
Steven Whitfield, a concerned resident of the lake, spoke to council about a harmful algae bloom that took place last summer. In order to avoid what happened last year on the lake Whitfield started looking into how to develop a lake plan.
A lake plan is meant to document a lake’s condition, plan for the future of the lake, and produce policy to ensure proper stewardship. Carling Council has gone through a similar process with Deep Bay.
He asked council for direction and feedback on developing an official plan for Lake Shebeshekong.
Mayor Mike Konoval directed staff to organize a meeting at a later date to determine the next steps for this plan.
