Covenant House Toronto is heading to cottage country to raise funds for the fight against sex trafficking.
The organization is hosting a cottage dock party and celebrity cycle in Minett on Lake Rosseau.
According to a spokesperson from Covenant House, Ontario has the highest number of sex trafficking cases in the country.
Organizers hope to raise $20,000 at the event. Proceeds will go towards Covenant House’s campaign “Just Like a Girl You Know”. That initiative includes prevention programs, crisis response and research to identify gaps in service.
Wakeboarding national team member Robbie McMillan will put on a wake boarding show at the party, and three-time Olympian cyclist Curt Harnett will lead a 30 km bike ride. Other notable attendees are Joan Walker and Kevin O’Leary.
The event is happening this Saturday starting at 9 am.
