Town of Parry Sound looking for help running municipal dog pound

The Town of Parry Sound is looking for creative solutions to run its municipal dog pound.

The municipal pound is operated by Parry Sound, McDougall, Carling, Seguin and Whitestone.

Day-to-day the Parry Sound bylaw office currently runs the pound, but they say they don’t have the personnel to be running at full capacity.

According to Dave Thompson from the Town of Parry Sound the bylaw office has two fewer employees since parking meters were taken out of the town.

He says that operation of the dog pound now relies on a makeshift combination of several town employees going above their regular work expectations.

Thompson says he hopes this process will open the door to someone in the private sector to help operate the dog pound.

They’re accepting expressions of interest from the public in the hopes of finding a way of partnering with someone who can help solve the problem. This process will be open until July 31st.

The pound is located on MacFarlane Street in Parry Sound.
