Transport Canada speaks about future of Wasauksing Swing Bridge

New restrictions are coming to the Wasauksing Swing Bridge.
Public Works Director Peter Brown was in a teleconference with Transport Canada and INAC.
He says the bridge won’t open if there are wind speeds recorded over 30 km/h.
They reviewed wind speeds between August and December, there were only four times the wind was recorded over that limit.
It took 2.2 million dollars to get the bridge working. Transport Canada has allowed the swing bridge to operate for the next year.
There are plans for a new bridge to replace it in the next 4-6 years. That bridge is still in the design phase.
