OPSEU is not happy with the way the Victorian Order of Nurses is laying off its workers.
Personal Support Workers in Parry Sound were sent layoff notices on Wednesday. This happened after VON decided they would be ending its contract to provide home care in the region.
OPSEU says this shows the nature of contract work, and how it doesn’t respect the unionized status of workers during negotiations.
VON has been contacted, but it has not responded to our requests for comment.
