Everyone is safe after this morning’s lockdown at Parry Sound High School

Parry Sound High School is back to business as normal after this morning’s lockdown. The OPP was called just after 9:00am about reports of a suspicious man near Isabella Street, carrying what looked liked an older style firearm. The doors were locked until about 10:00am.

The OPP found the man and determined he wasn’t carrying a firearm, and the lockdown was lifted.

The school board had sent a notice out to parents earlier this morning, saying the high school was put into a lock down, and Parry Sound Public School was in a hold-and-secure because it was a further distance away from where the man was seen.

The OPP says St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School also started lockdown procedures.

No arrests were made, and the OPP says the investigation is now over.
