Bioblitz identifies over 300 species in Killbear Provincial Park

The numbers from the Killbear Bioblitz are in.
Over the weekend, volunteers teamed up with experts to document as many species in the provincial park as possible.
Rebecca Pollock from the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve says this type of event is a bioblitz, a one day event to gather information about the species that call Killbear home. Pollock says there were two goals for this  event. One was to get people out in nature, but the other is more scientific.
They did this by organizing sessions throughout the day to pair experts with volunteers to record data.
So far 300 different species of animal have been entered. There are also still a few unidentified species that will need outside experts to weigh in on.
