Wahta Mohawks shut down cranberry business

The Wahta Mohawks are no longer in the cranberry business.

Wahta Mohawk officials were forced to shut down operations at the near 50-year-old Iroquois Cranberry Growers last week.

According to Economic Development Officer Lance DeCaire, an over saturated cranberry market has forced prices to drop.

He says the ICG has actually been draining the financial resources of the Wahta Mohawks for the last two decades.

Officials with Wahta will be looking for other economic development opportunities to replace the loss of this business.
