Parry Sound Casino back on the agenda at Carling Council

The proposed Parry Sound Casino is on the agenda at today’s Carling Township council meeting.
Parry Sound’s council approved the idea in principle back in January.
The casino would be a joint effort between the town and Shawanaga First Nation.
Now Carling Township is weighing in. Mayor Mike Konoval says he’s heard concerns from residents about the social impact a casino could have on West Parry Sound.
In response to those concerns, CAO Kevin McLlwain put together a report on the social impact of a casino in the area. He also suggested a joint meeting between municipalities, First Nations, and the province to talk about what social services would have to be funded to lessen the impact of the casino in the area.
Council will vote whether or not to follow through with his suggestion tonight.
