Northern Policy Institute says Parry Sound workforce shrinking

Parry Sound is getting older, and its workforce is shrinking.
That’s the message from the Northern Policy Institute in their new report.
According to the study, the findings in Parry Sound are “disturbingly similar” to the rest of North-Eastern Ontario.
As the labour force increasingly requires post-secondary education, more of Parry Sound’s population will find themselves behind the curve
It’s not all bad news though.
The unemployment rate is down for the indigenous community in the district.
The report also says the proximity of Parry Sound to Toronto opens it up for relocating “secondary immigrants”, who are new Canadians that have decided to relocate from the GTA.
