Clement returns home from a secret humanitarian trip to Ukraine

Victims of a violent war in Ukraine are getting some help from Parry Sound. Tony Clement was recently on a humanitarian mission to support refugees in the country, which has been badly affected by the unrest with Russia.

The Parry Sound-Muskoka MP met with government officials and non-profits to help with housing, medication, and other essentials that refugees need. He says there’s over a million displaced residents, and he saw first-hand how the active war is affecting innocent people.

Clement says the country itself is very poor, and its residents are struggling to get by. He was there at the end of last week, and the trip was kept under wraps until he got home for safety reasons.

Clement says some good news came out of the trip, as the humanitarian group he traveled with, One Free World International, will continue housing efforts and medication deliveries. He also invited a number of officials to Canada, to shine a bigger spotlight on the issues.
