The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is shutting down its Catholic school in Honey Harbour.
Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Elementary School will be closed by June 30th.
Students that are currently attending the school will be sent to St. Antoine Daniel Catholic School in Victoria Harbour for the new school year in the fall.
Director of Education Brian Beal says the decision is a difficult one because of the lives it affects in Honey Harbour.
On Wednesday, the board of trustees made the decision to close the school based on the declining student enrolment numbers.
The school has been offering Catholic education since it was opened in 1946.
