The GMHL announced its yearly awards on Tuesday and Parry Sound Islanders coach Doug Raymond was chosen as Best Coach in the Northern Division. Myles Pepin of the Spartans was runner up.
Tom Stanislavski of the Almaguin Spartans won as most sportsman like player in the North and also finished as runner-up as Best Defensive Forward. Bryan Austin of the Spartans was runner up for Best Defenseman.
The Parry Sounder Islanders game two in their series with the Bradford Bulls is tonight in Bradford. The Islanders lead the best of five series 1-0. The next game for Almaguin is Friday night at home to South Muskoka trailing the series 2-1.
