Children’s Aid Society workers still locked out

Children’s Aid workers in Parry Sound are still locked out of their jobs.

The latest round of negotiations fell apart last Friday as Children’s Aid and its workers failed to reach an agreement on the key issue of workload management.

CAS workers have been locked out of their jobs since December.

Both sides are calling the last round of negotiations disappointing.

CUPE is criticizing CAS for proposing an agreement that helped settle a contract dispute for CAS workers in Peel.

They say that the workload management in that agreement tailored to Peel and not the needs of workers in Parry Sound and Nipissing.

Children’s Aid says they asked CUPE to bring their latest offer to the membership for a vote, but CUPE said no.
