OPP are charging a Parry Sound man after assaulting a police officer and attempting to escape.
It happened January 31 at 9:21 pm.
The police tried to pull a car over after they did not stop at a stop sign.
The driver did not stop for the police, and headed towars a parking lot in town.
The driver continued on foot to an apartment building a short distance away, when the officer tried to arrest him.
Thats when the driver allegedly assaulted the officer.
A 31 year old man from Parry Sound was charged with flight from a peace officer, assault with intent to resist, driving while impaired, two counts of driving while disqualified, three counts of failure to comply with probation order and driving with an open liquor container.
He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
