Christmas Bird Count a bit lower than past years at Algonquin Park

The 2016 Algonquin Park Christmas Bird Count had fewer sightings than most years.

Bird watchers caught a glimpse of over 2,700 birds from 25 different species during the 43rd Christmas Bird Count.

On average, there are over 4,500 bird sightings ranging from 27 different species.

The Bird Count was held on December 30th, in cloudy, snowy, and windy conditions, which may have made it harder to see birds in the park.
