Thanks to community donations totaling $132,000 or 65% of the Treetops Community Forest’s goal and now a loan from a private business, the initiative is able, along with the Town of Parry Sound to proceed with the purchase the property. Treetops co-chair, Zack Crafts, says in part “Circumstance has dictated that out of respect for the many contributors to the Treetops initiative, that we proceed with the Town in taking steps to purchase the land. It’s a very exciting time for the project.” The fund-raising will continue in 2017 in an effort to raise the $70,000 left to reach their $200,000 goal.
