R.B.C. has the green light to move to the south end into the space most recently occupied by “Easy Home”. Prior to discussion on amending the town’s Official Plan, Council heard two depositions on the issue. The first was from Jamie Chisholm, President of New Urban Retail on behalf of the Oastler Park Shopping Plaza. Mr. Chisholm advised Council that consultants for RBC had conducted an extensive search downtown for a possible location but found none. He added that the new location in the South end is close to “move in ready”. Also giving a deputation were two representatives of the Parry Sound Mall who wanted to clarify that over the past three years they had made several offers to improve the Mall for the benefit of RBC. When it came to the vote it was a split vote, with the Mayor breaking the tie vote and the amendment to the Official Plan was passed permitting RBC’s move.
