Floor of Georgian Bay near the Salt Docks getting a cleanup

A group of SCUBA divers will be cleaning up the waters near the Salt Docks.  At last night’s meeting council heard from Shawna Woods and Ian Little about their plan to clean up the surface debris on the floor of Georgina Bay off the Salt Docks.  Woods explains how the idea came about.

They spoke with town staff about the idea, but after discussing with the town’s lawyer and insurance provider, it was suggested that the Town of Parry Sound not endorse the activity on the town-owned water lot.  Woods and Little spoke at last night’s meeting to explain to council their plan and after some discussion, Director of Finance Trevor Pinn provided a way to make it happen.

Pinn explained to council that they will not be disturbing any lands on the town-owned water lot.

The clean-up will be held on September 14th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with around 60 volunteers taking part including eight divers and two shore hands for each diver.
