After more than two months, the lower level of the Rosseau Memorial Hall is open again. On July 4th, the lower level of the hall was closed for health and safety reasons until all of the mould was removed and the air quality improved. A staff report to council at yesterday’s meeting showed the company hired to remove the mould completed their work last month and that air quality tests saw lowered levels of mould spores. Based on the report, council voted to re-open the lower level of the hall effective immediately. Manager of Community Services Dominique O’Brien told council that staff is still putting the final touches on the lower level, but it is ready for anyone wishing to rent the space. Councillor Rod Osbourne encouraged council and staff to pay close attention to the issue and take preventative measures suggested in the report to prevent this from happening again.
