Police charge Hamilton man with impaired driving during a R.I.D.E. stop

A Hamilton man has been charged with impaired driving after being stopped at a local R.I.D.E. check.  West Parry Sound OPP set up the spot check on Highway 124 in McDougall last week and just after 1:00am Thursday, stopped a vehicle and determined the driver had been drinking.  As a result, the 26-year-old was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.  His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, his vehicle impounded for a week, and will face his charges in a Parry Sound court next week.  The OPP remind motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving and anyone who sees someone they think is driving while impaired is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
