Parry Sound is a leader in the province when it comes to being organ donors

Parry Sounders love to donate, but not just money.  Yesterday, the Trillium Gift of Life Network celebrated a milestone of having 30 per cent of Ontarians registering to be organ donors with Parry Sound leading the way.  With just under 12,000 health card holders in the Parry Sound area, over 6,000 people have registered as an organ donor which is tied first place in the province with North Bay at 53 per cent.  President and CEO of Trillium Gift of Life Network Ronnie Gavsie applauded Parry Sound for topping the 170 communities in the province.

Gavsie says the ultimate goal is to have the entire province at 50 per cent.

Donor cards are no longer used as they were difficult for hospital staff to access when necessary so anyone wishing to be an organ donor must register at www.BeADonor.ca.
