The Town of Parry Sound is getting one-time funding to offset the cost of new rules allowing non-profit long-term care facilities to avoid property taxes. Director of Finance Trevor Pinn reminded council at last night’s meeting how there was a change in the rules for some long-term care facilities when it came to paying taxes.
Pinn says the town wrote the province and they responded with a grant of over $173,000.
Pinn says many other municipalities have contacted the town to thank them for bringing the issue to the government’s attention.
