Huge success for Wild Edibles Hike over the weekend

A Wild Edibles Hike in McDougall was a huge success over the weekend.  On Saturday, a group of 40 people took part in the hike as part of the 2016 Eat Around the Sound (EATS) Workshop Series held by the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve and Canadore College.  Community Health Representative for Wasauksing First Nation Faith Pegahmagabow led the hike on the Georgian Nordic Ski trails teaching participants about what plants are edible and which ones can be used for medicinal purposes.  There are two more events scheduled in the EATS Series with the Sweet Honey Festival on September 17th and Fun with Fermentation on November 27th, both at Canadore College.  To learn more, volunteer, or register for these events visit www.gbbr.ca/food.
