The Carling Market Committee want to put funds raised at the annual Thanksgiving Fundraiser toward playground equipment at Centennial Park. Committee member Janet Allin wrote to council to determine the feasibility and practicality of contributing the funds toward playground equipment at the municipal park. At a special meeting held on Wednesday, council directed the Deputy Clerk to discuss and clarify the proposal with the Carling Market executive before making a decision. Each year several thousand dollars are raised at the event, and the committee feels if it’s put toward something local residents could see and use, it would make their efforts at the fundraiser more meaningful and rewarding. The event is Saturday, October 8th.
