Property owners in Seguin want to become part of the Town of Parry Sound

A local development deal hinges on which municipality the property is in.  Mike Reeves and George Stivrins spoke to council at Tuesday’s meeting asking if the town would take their property from Seguin and make it a part of town.  Reeves says a developer has come to them wanting to build, but they need services and want to be a part of the Town of Parry Sound.

Stivrins says the company needs services to be able to develop and the town has been investigating the development of that road.

He and Reeves told council that the owner of the old SPCA property is also interested in becoming a part of the town and their neighbours on either side are not opposed to the idea, but are not active in the request.

The idea of having 12 properties in that area of Seguin become part of the town was close to being realized early in 2012, but a vote of the landowners didn’t receive the two third majority needed.  Reeves says they met with Seguin last June to reconfigure the original layout of property in the deal, which he believes would have resulted in a win four years ago.

He says the meeting ended with Seguin Mayor Bruce Gibbon saying any deal would have to be a win-win and there has been no communication since.
