A report to look into lowering speed limits has been ordered in Parry Sound. Councillor Bonnie Keith brought forth a direction at last night’s meeting for Director of Public Works Peter Brown to bring a report and recommendations back to council on the feasibility of reducing speed limits through town. The idea came on the recommendation from the 8-80 Advisory Committee, on which Keith sits, and she says a study is better than just choosing a blanket speed limit across all roads.
She says one component of the feasibility study has to be education.
Brown says although a full traffic study was deferred to the 2017 budget deliberations, this could be something different and staff already has a head start.
Council voted in favour of the direction and the report and recommendations will be brought back to council for consideration at a later council meeting.
