Seguin properties vary in recent MPAC assessments

Property has gone up in some parts of Seguin.  The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation recently sent out the 2016 reassessments in the Parry Sound District with an average increase to residential property values of 1.1 per cent.  In Seguin, a typical home is just over $230,000 which is up $15,000 from the 2012 assessments and the average waterfront property was up $23,000 to over $460,000.  There is variation to values across the municipality with Lake Rosseau up two per cent, Lake Joe flat, and Lake Muskoka down three per cent.  There are about 250 variables that determine the assessment values but the five that make up 85 per cent of the valuation is location, age of the property, size, quality of construction, and frontage.  To learn more about the assessment process and to see more of how your property compares to the rest of your municipality, visit www.aboutmyproperty.ca.
