Clement ready to take on Conservative leadership

Our MP is pleased to have had local leaders at his Conservative leadership announcement.  Last night, Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement announced his candidacy for the leadership of the federal Conservative party in Mississauga.  Clement says it was encouraging to see over a dozen of his constituents there and explains why he wanted to make the announcement in Mississauga.

He says he will be hosting campaign events in Parry Sound and Muskoka moving forward.

When asked why he decided to run, Clement says hearing many people encouraging him made the idea not just a flight of fancy in his own head.

This is the second time he’s run for the party’s leadership after losing to former Prime Minister Stephen Harper in 2003.  He believes having 10 years of experience in a variety of portfolios will give him a better advantage this time.

The new leader will be voted in on May 27th of next year.
