Tony Clement announces candidacy for leadership of the Conservative Party

Parry Sound Muskoka MP Tony Clement is officially running for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Clement made this major announcement to fellow conservative politicians and supporters in Mississauga on Tuesday evening.
The announcement was broadcast live via Clement’s Facebook page and other social media platforms.
Clement promised to usher in a modern conservatism that would attract first-time voters to support the Conservative Party.
He touched down on his experience as the President of the Treasury Board and promised, as leader, he would fight for all Conservative ridings.
Rona Ambrose stepped in as the current interim leader of the party, after former Prime Minister Stephen Harper stepped down, following the loss to the Liberals in the 2015 election.
There are currently three other candidates in the riding for leadership and a few still rumored to be considering running, including businessman and TV personality Kevin O’Leary and former cabinet minister Peter MacKay.
