Northeastern Ontario is getting a dementia strategy. Last week, the North East Local Health Integration Network Dementia Steering Committee brought dementia car providers and people with lived experience together to start work on a strategy. The North East LHIN committee is responding to the region’s sizeable growth in seniors from 20 per cent of the population to 27 per cent in just 10 years. Work to develop the strategy will identify issues and gaps for people living with dementia and their caregivers; strengthen collaboration between organizations providing dementia services; and increase education on where and how people can access dementia services within Northeastern Ontario.
