There will be increased presence from local police this Canada Day long weekend

Local police will be out this weekend looking for the Big 4.  West Parry Sound OPP will have an increased presence on the roads this Canada Day long week with officers looking for impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding and failing to use seat belts.  Officers ask drivers to take responsibility for their personal safety and that of their families by making sure everyone in the vehicle is wearing their seat belts, respecting the speed limit, and never drink and drive.  They also remind drivers that distracted driving legislation came into effect on October 26, 2009 so don’t let your attention be drawn away from the task at hand of driving safely by any handheld communication and entertainment devices.  The OPP is committed to ensuring safe highways and communities for all Ontarians and hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Canada Day weekend.
