Correction made to earlier story regarding the Parry Sound Friendship Centre getting funding for a Cultural Resource Coordinator

The Parry Sound Friendship Centre won’t be getting a Cultural Resource Coordinator.  With 28 Friendship Centres across the province and two satellite sites receiving funding for a Cultural Resource Coordinator, it was originally reported that the Parry Sound Friendship Centre was included.  The Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres has informed this station that the original information they provided was incorrect and that funding will not be provided to the Parry Sound Friendship Centre to hire a Cultural Resource Coordinator.  The province has committed $6.3 million over three years to fund Cultural Resource Coordinators across the province as a key component of Walking Together – Ontario’s Long Term Strategy to End Violence Against Indigenous Women.
