The Parry Sound and Area Municipal Airport is hoping to change the definition of Local and Regional airports. Council for the Town of Parry Sound council passed their support of Parry Sound and Area Municipal Airport Manager, Neil Pirie’s request to review the definition as it pertains to the New Build Canada Fund at this week’s regular meeting. In Pirie’s letter to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, the current definition leaves half of essential Local and Regional Airports ineligible for funding and left with aging aircraft maneuvering infrastructure. Council’s resolution is being forwarded to Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement, the other West Parry Sound Area municipalities, the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities, and the Ontario Small Urban Municipalities for their support.
