Paid parking at the new medical building in Parry Sound has caused a stir. A petition started last Friday on change.org to make parking free at Parry Sound Family Health Team’s office. The building, built by Distler Construction, opened last Monday to include the Family Health Team as well as Ben’s Pharmacy. Alex Distler of Distler Construction says the paid parking was built into the lease agreement with the tenants and is going to offset the costs of the entire project with a portion going into a reserve fund for future maintenance. Parking will remain free for the rest of the month then will cost $2 for an hour, $3 for two hours, $4 for three hours, and a $5 maximum for the day. Parking is free for 20 minutes and anyone getting a prescription filled can get a free parking token from Ben’s Pharmacy.
