Local volunteers are getting recognized for their service by the province

Eight volunteers from the Parry Sound area are being recognized by the province.  A ceremony is taking place tonight in Orillia to recognize volunteers from the surrounding areas for their dedication and continuous years of service to local organizations.  The Parry Sound and Area Horticultural Society has six members getting recognized; Gord and Irva Stewart for 30 year, Nicky Anderson for 15 years, Joyce Hopkins for 10 years, and Sharon Link and Sheila Allen for 5 years.  Also being recognized form the Parry Sound area is Ruth Goodwin for 25 years of service on the Seguin Public Libraries Board and Robin Walton for 10 years of service with the local Girls Guides of Canada Community.  Certificates and customized trillium pins will be awarded to people with five to 60 or more years of service.  Supporting volunteers is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs.
